Faculty of Fine Arts, Porto, Portugal
Prompted by Belá Tarr´s film Damnation, The Singer was performed and presented during a short-term residency at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto in March 2015, as part of the IN Pure Print event organised by Dr. Graciela Machado.
When asked about Damnation, Tarr replied that the film was an experience of touching time. And time, in Belá Tarr’s case, as Jacques Rancière describes, is the time of pure material events.
“It´s over. All over. There’s no end. No end now. It can’t fade. And it won’t fade”.
