Unique prints
Printmaking is often presented as a space of control and accuracy. In contrast, I enjoy the space with no precision, with no static rules or plans, that prints can offer. It is the space of experimentation that I am particularly interested in.
To Blow revolves around the relationship about making and not-making, while exploring the performative dimension of printmaking and drawing. The action is simple, and no printmaking mastery is required: I place a small amount of powdered graphite on an acrylic plate/matrix and then, in a single movement, I blow the powder away. The image produced by the act of blowing is then transferred to paper through a traditional printing process. The emphasis on the performative brings us back to the way in which time unfolds and how matter shifts naturally over time.
